The session will be led by Roger del Rio, who recently won the Fly Fishing East Division of the CCA STAR tournament. Roger has been flyfishing saltwater for over 35 years, and brings a wealth of knowledge on catching specks, reds, and other marsh species.  Roger wll demonstrate a couple of his favorite marsh patterns.

Our monthly tying sessions are FREE and open to the public. If you have tools, please bring them. Otherwise, the club has a few toolsets (vise, bobbin, bodkin, scissors, etc.) to use during these sessions. Materials will be provided.

October 13th meeting - Favorite Saltwater Flies For The Marsh

The next meeting of the Red Stick Fly Fishers will be held Monday, October 13, 2014, at the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries building on Quail Drive in Baton Rouge.  Time is 7:00pm.  The public is welcome!

For October, the meeting will be dedicated to our favorite saltwater flies we use for reds, specks and flounder. This will be a great opportunity to learn which flies work best in our SE Louisiana saltwaters. The meeting is open to the public, so come join us.

The format will be an open forum where participants will describe their flies, talk about how and when to use them, and mention where to buy them, or if  not commercially available, how to tie them. Please bring copies of the recipe. All attendees are encouraged to participate. The more, the better.

If you are planning to present one or more flies at the meeting, please send an email to lafleurmf@aol.com so we can get an idea of how many presenters we can expect.
