About Us

Red Stick Fly Fishers was founded in 1988 and currently lists over 100 members. Our mission is to promote fly fishing, conservation and outdoor ethics in the capitol region of Louisiana. Interests of our members range from mountain stream fishing to inshore saltwater to offshore big game to local waters for bass and bluegill.

Meetings

The 2nd Monday of each month, we hold our general meeting at 7:00pm at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries building at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge. The meetings are open to the public.

Programs include guest speakers on a wide variety of topics, educational videos, and club experts.   Prior to our meetings we offer casting outside. The meetings are open to the public.

Fly Tying Sessions

The 4th Monday of each month, we hold our tying session at 7:00pm at one of our sponsor locations.  A featured tier demonstrates and teaches one or more of their favorite fly patterns. Tying tools, materials, and personal assistance are available.  The tying sessions are open to the public, and beginners are welcomed and encouraged!

Activities

We have frequently scheduled fishing trips, and clinics for casting, rod building, and introductory fly fishing, as well as club social events. We also colloborate with BREC (East Baton Rouge Recreation), LA Wildlife and Fisheries, and Boy Scouts.  RSFF also boasts one of the largest contingent of "puddlers" (canoe and kayak anglers). For dates and details on club activities, check out our Calendar and Events pages, as well as our Forum.
